Jefferson County Sheriff's Office

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, based in Rigby in eastern Idaho, pledges law enforcement services free from prejudice and held to high ethical standards, so the county remains a secure home for residents and visitors. With the Idaho Sheriff's Association, the office points residents to an online handgun safety course that meets the firearms familiarity rule for the standard Idaho license to carry concealed weapons; after finishing it, applicants get the license application from the sheriff's office. The county jail holds adult men and women, both pretrial and sentenced, and aims for safe, sanitary, secure and humane custody in keeping with constitutional requirements and the jail standards of the Idaho Sheriff's Association. In line with the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, the jail holds a zero-tolerance policy on sexual abuse, assault and harassment, takes reports through staff, its PREA coordinator, a neighboring county coordinator or the Family Crisis Center in Rexburg, provides related services at no cost to victims and posts annual PREA reports. Public records requests use a written form that can be dropped off, mailed, emailed or faxed, and a civil fee schedule is posted online.
