Lee County Sheriff's Office

Patrol deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office in Dixon cover 729 square miles of north-central Illinois around the clock, each driving a take-home squad car. Besides answering calls, they execute arrest warrants, enforce traffic laws and serve summonses, civil papers, evictions and orders of protection, and many carry second roles as firearms or Taser instructors, A.R.I.D.E. impaired-driving officers, accident reconstructionists or members of the Joint Operations Group SWAT team. Two utility and narcotics K-9s, Henry and Dax, work patrol, and a full-time deputy is assigned to Sauk Valley Community College. Detectives investigate everything from drug activity, identity theft and domestic violence to homicides, armed robberies, arson and home invasions, track registered sex offenders, follow up on Crime Stoppers tips and process crime scenes, keeping a rotating on-call schedule so someone is always available. The office also runs the county jail, with on-site and remote video visitation, provides security for the courts and handles dispatching for every agency in Lee County.
