Lawrence County Sheriff's Office

Lawrence County Sheriff's Office keeps the peace, attends the courts, serves court process and orders and operates the jail for Lawrence County, Tennessee. Patrol deputies cover the county around the clock in four rotating shifts, with a sergeant commanding each and a patrol lieutenant over the division. The Criminal Investigation Division handles crimes outside the county's municipalities in two tracks: general criminal cases, including domestic violence and child abuse, and narcotics. Courthouse security officers staff the entrance checkpoint, keep order in court and make sure defendants from the jail arrive on time. A school resource officer works in each public school in the county, the adult high school among them, under a supervisor based at Lawrence County High School. Corrections officers oversee the men and women held in the Lawrence County Detention Center, which sits directly behind the courthouse in Lawrenceburg, and an assistant jail administrator supports jail operations. The administrative office keeps weekday business hours, and the county's Circuit, Chancery, General Sessions and Juvenile courts meet at the courthouse the office protects.
