Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office

The Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office operates within the Alabama Department of Insurance as one of its divisions. Its responsibilities include inspection services and the investigation of fires, explosions and insurance fraud, along with work to prevent arson and related crimes and to safeguard people and property statewide against fires and explosions. The office is based in downtown Montgomery, where the State Fire Marshal and the Assistant State Fire Marshals work. Deputy Fire Marshals and insurance fraud investigators are stationed around Alabama and cover assigned territories.
