Officers of the Charlevoix Police Department in Michigan provide round-the-clock coverage, with road patrol all year and adding foot patrol downtown in summer. The department's jurisdiction follows the city limits and takes in the airport, the city marina, the city-operated golf course, downtown, the industrial park, residential neighborhoods and three beaches: Ferry, Michigan and Depot. Officers respond to everything from fender-benders and domestic disputes to disorderly conduct, nuisances and city ordinance violations, and all of them hold current certification and training. The 911 dispatch center handles non-emergency as well as emergency calls, so residents who cannot reach the office can call 911 and an officer will contact them. Residents leaving town can request a property check, and the department publishes downtown parking rules and a winter parking ordinance. Public records requests are governed by the Michigan FOIA, beginning at MCL 15.231, and the department links to firearms information, the state sex offender registry, the Department of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of State. A printable community resources sheet lists regional help with meals, utilities, mental health crises, domestic violence, transportation and veterans' services.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS 2023), Charlevoix city, MI has an estimated population of 2,420.
