Its territory stretches from the point where Route 85 meets US 101 in the north down to Pinnacles National Park, and from Hecker Pass in the west across to Pacheco Pass in the east. Communities inside those lines include Gilroy, San Martin, Morgan Hill, Coyote and the southern edge of San Jose on the Santa Clara side, and Hollister, Paicines and Tres Pinos on the San Benito side. Beyond patrol and general law enforcement, the office handles DMV-requested VIN inspections and child safety seat checks.
