Collin County Sheriff's Office

Collin County Sheriff's Office is the sheriff's agency for Collin County, Texas, based in McKinney. The office provides law enforcement, detention and public safety services countywide, and its workforce combines deputies, detention officers, telecommunicators and civilian employees who run the county detention facility and support the local criminal justice system. In Collin County the agency is formally referred to as the Office of the Sheriff. The county's early lockup was known locally as "The Prison" rather than a jail; a 1900 renovation added new cells while restoring the old ones, and later growth led to a recommendation to the Commissioners Court for an entirely new detention facility and sheriff's office. County growth continues to raise public safety demands on the office.
