Cumberland County Sheriff's Office

Cumberland County Sheriff's Office covers the Cumberland County towns in Maine that have no police department of their own, keeping deputies on patrol around the clock to answer emergencies and requests for help and to enforce criminal and traffic law. Specialty units back the Patrol Division. The Dive Team trains nine months a year in scuba and surface-supplied air diving, ice diving included, and stays on call for underwater emergencies and investigations. The multijurisdictional Emergency Services Unit, drawing members from municipal departments across the county, handles warrant service, search and rescue, transport of high-risk prisoners, woodland operations, civil disturbances, corrections unrest, hostage and barricade incidents and executive protection. Canine teams holding Maine Criminal Justice Academy certification assist agencies throughout southern Maine, and teams from across the state train at its Standish facility through the Law Enforcement Dogs of Maine program. Marine Patrol works Sebago Lake during the summer season to keep boaters safe and see that lake protection rules are followed, a Reconstruction Team rounds out the units, and the Honor Guard posts colors at parades, memorials, sporting events, inaugurations and oaths of office. Its website covers tips, an inmate locator, records requests, protection orders and civil process.
