Floyd County Sheriff's Office

Floyd County Sheriff's Office handles detention, court security, warrants and civil process for Floyd County in northwest Georgia, including Rome and Cave Spring. Its jail, built in 1982 and renovated in 1996 with SPLOST revenue, holds 776 beds across 256,000 square feet and houses pretrial detainees along with county- and state-sentenced inmates; continuing SPLOST money funds a Jail Infrastructure Restoration Project. The Warrant Division keeps original warrants current in the NCIC and GCIC systems, serves warrants and temporary protective orders, and handles property-retrieval escorts and prisoner transportation. A Civil and Court Services Division serves civil papers, protective orders and fi. fa. writs, enforces evictions and staffs Superior, Probate, Magistrate and Juvenile courtrooms. At the administration office, the public can get a name-based background check without an appointment or schedule fingerprinting on official cards, both paid by card or check. Attorneys and residents file open records requests through the county portal, while news organizations complete an annual compliance memo before receiving records. The office also posts crisis hotlines, naloxone sources and recovery resources for families affected by substance use.
