Gillespie County Sheriff's Office

The Gillespie County Sheriff's Office covers Gillespie County, Texas, from its base in Fredericksburg. The sheriff's duties include criminal investigations, traffic enforcement and operation of the county jail. A chief deputy, the highest-ranking appointed officer, reports directly to the sheriff, oversees the division commanders and acts as the agency's operations manager. The county communications center handles public safety dispatch for law enforcement, emergency medical services and fire, and also takes after-hours utility calls for the City of Fredericksburg. At the jail, families can use remote video visitation and inmate messaging, and onsite visits remain free, though visitors showing signs of alcohol or drug use are turned away.
