La Salle County Sheriff's Office

Deputies of the LaSalle County Sheriff's Office patrol the unincorporated parts of LaSalle County, Illinois, around the clock from the office's headquarters complex in Ottawa. Beyond road patrol, the office runs the county jail, a mostly medium-security facility with 305 beds, though it also takes inmates classified at minimum and maximum security, and it meets state jail standards. Its Medication-Assisted Recovery program combines FDA-approved medications for opioid or alcohol use disorders with counseling and help from recovery specialists and correction officers. Deputies also provide security for the circuit court, screen visitors entering county buildings, and deliver warrants, summonses, protective orders and civil papers such as foreclosure notices and wage garnishments. A Tactical Response Unit of deputies, commanded by a lieutenant, handles hostage situations and high-risk entries countywide, responds when area police departments ask for help, and backs up TRI-DENT, a drug enforcement unit shared by three counties, on narcotics cases. Volunteers in the Mounted Sheriff's Posse train on horseback for search and rescue, evidence preservation, crowd control and disaster support. The office also handles county animal control, and through its Senior Check-In Program a staff member phones seniors who live alone once a week.
