Meriwether County Sheriff's Office

The Meriwether County Sheriff's Office, working from the county seat of Greenville, has served this west-central Georgia county since 1818. Its deputies respond across the unincorporated parts of the county and assist the municipalities as needed, with sworn deputies, certified detention officers and administrative staff on duty at all hours, every day. The office also runs the county detention center in Greenville and secures all judicial proceedings. Its divisions cover administrative and tactical support, court security and civil services, criminal investigation, the jail, narcotics, records, patrol and a North Precinct. School Resource Officers keep a strong presence in county schools, building relationships with educators and children. Through the county's CivicReady system, residents can sign up for email, text or voice alerts about severe weather, flooding, missing persons, boil advisories, power outages and evacuations in the county and its towns, including Greenville, Manchester and Warm Springs. Meriwether County also posts the human trafficking hotline notice that OCGA § 16-5-47 requires.
