Missouri Capitol Police

Missouri Capitol Police is the state law enforcement agency that has served as the primary police force for the 72-acre Capitol Complex in Jefferson City since 1983. Its statutory authority covers all state-owned or state-leased property in Cole County, and its service area has grown as state agencies moved to other Jefferson City locations. Officers handle criminal investigations, medical emergencies, traffic crashes, security and fire alarms, and security escorts, looking after a state workforce numbering upward of 15,000 along with the 200,000-plus people who come to the seat of government each year. Since 1978 the agency has also staffed the Missouri Governor's Mansion with a full-time team of specially trained officers. Members provide specialized training on request.
