Mount Holly Police Department

Mount Holly, a Gaston County city in North Carolina, operates its own public safety answering point, so 911 calls inside the city are taken by Mount Holly Police telecommunicators. The department describes itself as community-oriented and problem-solving: four patrol teams, each with a sergeant, a corporal and a K9 unit, respond to calls, while officers volunteer for the tactical team, community outreach and special events, and the agency also takes part in a regional SWAT team and a hostage negotiation team. Its Criminal Investigations Division builds felony cases for the District Attorney and investigates technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation, and a vice and narcotics unit works with federal and local partners against drug sales from street level to organized networks. Full-time school resource officers have been placed in the city's elementary schools since 2016, are certified through the North Carolina Justice Academy and take part in programs such as Books and Badges. Residents can register home or business cameras through a free, voluntary video surveillance program, and officers deliver Meals on Wheels with a local church, host Coffee with a Cop and raise money for Cancer Services of Gaston County each November.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS 2023), Mount Holly city, NC has an estimated population of 17,928.
