Based in Elizabethville, the Lykens station is one of two Pennsylvania State Police stations in Dauphin County, alongside the Harrisburg station, and it belongs to Troop H, the troop responsible for Perry, Cumberland, Dauphin, Adams and Franklin counties. Troop H is commanded from Harrisburg and organized into patrol, criminal investigation and staff services sections, and its six stations investigate crashes, crimes and other incidents. The troop's public information officers handle media briefings. At Lykens, troopers certified as child passenger safety technicians inspect and install car seats free of charge on the third Wednesday of each month. Troop H community services officers give crime-awareness talks to businesses, schools and civic groups, and the troop supports two youth programs: Camp Cadet, a no-cost summer camp for 13- to 15-year-olds structured like police academy training, and the Hill Impact Program, which prepares students aged 15 to 18 for an academy through weekly sessions on traffic and criminal investigations.
