Post Falls Police Department

Created more than a hundred years ago, the Post Falls Police Department in Idaho's Panhandle now handles far more than patrol inside its own city limits. Its 911 Dispatch Center is the public safety answering point for every 911 call placed in both Post Falls and neighboring Rathdrum, and its Special Response Team is a multi-agency unit made up of sworn officers from the Post Falls and Rathdrum police departments. Detectives in the Investigations Division handle all criminal offenses in the city, traffic officers respond to and investigate crashes, including hit-and-runs, and school resource officers double as investigating detectives on juvenile cases. A K9 program created in 2009 fields teams for critical incidents and drug interdiction, and an honor guard formed in 2012 serves at ceremonies. The department runs its own animal shelter, the Canine Control Center, and a small community services team made up of one sworn officer and one civilian enforces city codes on parking, abandoned vehicles, business signage and alcohol and catering licenses. A Victim Services Unit supports all crime victims, and volunteers serve through both a chaplain corps and the national Volunteers in Police Service program.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS 2023), Post Falls city, ID has an estimated population of 41,716.
