Rosemount Police Department

Rosemount's police department in Minnesota connects with residents through a yearly cycle of events, from a teen police academy in early spring and a citizen academy in spring to Public Safety in the Park in summer, Night to Unite in August, the Pink Patch Project in October and Shop with a Cop in November. The citizen academy is free for adults 18 and up who live in Rosemount or work there, covers topics such as South Metro SWAT and firearms, includes a ride-along with an officer and requires a background check; the teen academy is open to high school-age students from Rosemount and Apple Valley. On Night to Unite, residents lock up, turn on outside lights and hold block parties that police, fire and city officials visit to promote crime prevention. Volunteer police reserves, who are not licensed peace officers under Minnesota Statutes section 626.84, help with traffic control, event security, city and park patrols and motorist assists. The department also links to crisis resources such as the 988 lifeline, and residents can send crime tips online for an officer or detective to follow up.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS 2023), Rosemount city, MN has an estimated population of 26,509.
