Unadilla Township Police Department provides local police service for Unadilla Township in Livingston County, Michigan, with its station in the Gregory area. Law enforcement in the township dates to 1894, when two constables were appointed. The township formally created a police department on March 19, 1968, after finding it could not get adequate response from constables or the county sheriff alone. Constables continued to act as peace officers until 1978, when the township hired its first police officer, and the constable system ended in 1985 when that officer took the oath as the first chief of police. A constable's badge from that earlier era is kept on display at the township police station. The department screens applicants through a staged hiring process ending in a background investigation.
