Wilmington University’s Department of University Safety is staffed by Delaware state-certified commissioned constables licensed by the Constable Board of Examiners under Title 24, Chapter 56. Official University Safety pages state that constables provide coverage for the New Castle, Brandywine, and Dover campuses and the Athletic Facility; they patrol facilities, respond to calls for service, conduct accident and criminal investigations on campus, exercise arrest and detention authority when necessary, coordinate with agencies of jurisdiction, and support Clery Act compliance. Constables are augmented by University Safety Cadets and partner with state, county, and municipal police as needed.
