The Police Honor Guard training course is a comprehensive and intensive program designed to equip law enforcement officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to serve as members of a police honor guard unit. This training course is specifically developed for officers selected to represent their department in ceremonies such as funerals, parades, and other special events.

Course Content

  • Drill and Ceremony Techniques

    • Proper marching in formation
    • Execution of rifle salutes
    • Flag folding procedures

  • Flag Etiquette and Protocol

    • Procedures for different types of events
    • History and significance of the police honor guard tradition

  • Leadership Development

    • Effective communication
    • Teamwork in high-stress situations

  • Uniform Standards

    • Proper uniform appearance
    • Grooming standards
    • Conduct expectations

Training Methodology

  • Classroom Instruction

    • Theoretical knowledge on honor guard duties

  • Hands-On Practical Exercises

    • Rigorous physical activity, including marching drills and rifle handling exercises

Instructors

  • Experienced instructors with extensive knowledge and experience in police honor guard duties will lead the sessions.

  • Course Reporting Number: 6037 (TCOLE – Texas Commission on Law Enforcement)

Upon successful completion, officers will have gained the necessary skills and knowledge to proudly represent their department as members of a professional police honor guard unit. This training will enhance their ability to perform ceremonial duties and instill essential qualities such as pride, discipline, and professionalism.
