During the Core Principles portion of the course, participants will learn the fundamental concepts and theories behind arrest and control tactics. This includes understanding body mechanics, balance, leverage, and other key principles that are crucial for successful takedowns and holds. Through hands-on demonstrations and exercises, participants will develop a solid foundation for their arrest and control abilities.
The second part of this course, Ground Control, delves deeper into techniques specifically designed for controlling suspects who are resisting while on the ground. Participants will learn how to maintain control of a suspect once on the ground through proper body positioning and other techniques.
The final component of this course is Fighting From the Bottom. In this segment, participants will be trained on how to defend themselves when they find themselves in a disadvantaged position during an altercation. Emphasis will be placed on practical techniques that can be used in real-life scenarios where an officer may end up on their back or stomach while attempting to make an arrest. Participants will also learn how to effectively escape from holds or chokes while on the ground.
By completing this course, officers will gain valuable knowledge and skills that can be applied in real-world situations. This training not only promotes safety for both officers and suspects but also instills confidence in handling potentially violent encounters. Join us for Technical Tuesdays!
