Law enforcement professionals around the nation are taking notice of the exceptional achievements of the Aurora Explorer's Post 2024. This remarkable group of young individuals is setting a high standard for what an explorer program can accomplish, and their recent success at a patrol-based competition in Topeka, Kansas, is an outstanding testament to their dedication and hard work.

Celebrating Outstanding Achievements

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Commander Connor Calicchia, Sergeant Everette Lennon, Sergeant Ashely Quintanilla, and Explorer Aaron Lennon. These four outstanding young leaders have spent months undergoing rigorous training, and their efforts paid off when they competed in a variety of scenarios, including Auto Theft Investigations, High Risk Traffic Stops, Crisis Intervention, and Tactical Manhunt. Incredibly, they brought home a total of ten trophies!

Their accomplishments not only demonstrate their commitment to excellence but also showcase the potential of those who choose to pursue a career in law enforcement. We eagerly anticipate following their future endeavors and watching them continue to make a positive impact on their communities.

About the Aurora Explorer Program

The Aurora Explorer program is an enriching educational experience for youth aged 14-19 who have a keen interest in law enforcement. Participants learn valuable life skills, leadership abilities, and essential knowledge about the legal system and police procedures.

Upon acceptance into the program, explorers must complete a 16-week academy that runs from January to April every year. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics such as Basic Colorado law, CPR, pedestrian contacts, traffic control, traffic stops, city geography, building searches, crisis intervention, firearm safety, patrol procedures, leadership skills, teamwork skills, communication, and much more.

After successfully completing the academy, participants become standing Explorers, allowing them to take part in regional and out-of-state competitions. These exciting events challenge explorers to put their training to the test, as they compete against other Explorer posts from across the nation in various patrol-based and tactical scenarios.

In addition to competitions, Aurora Explorers also actively engage in community events, special requests from the Aurora Police Department, and conferences, further solidifying their role as exemplary representatives of the law enforcement profession.

Encouraging the Next Generation

We wholeheartedly commend the Aurora Explorer's Post 2024 for their unwavering dedication and remarkable achievements. They serve as an inspiring example for future generations of law enforcement professionals, demonstrating the immense potential that lies within each young person who chooses to follow this path.
