The Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) course will take place in Laredo, Texas, on July 18-19, 2024. This comprehensive training session, developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) with input from the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police, aims to bridge the gap between Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and the Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC/DRE) Program.
ARIDE is designed to equip law enforcement officers with the skills needed to observe, identify, and articulate signs of impairment due to drugs, alcohol, or both. By enhancing these capabilities, the program seeks to reduce impaired driving incidents and associated crashes that result in serious injuries and fatalities.

As a prerequisite, attendees must be commissioned Texas Peace Officers and have successfully completed the NHTSA 24-Hour Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Practitioner Course.
