The American Heart Association's HeartSaver Instructor Essentials Training is a comprehensive program designed for those who wish to become certified instructors in First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use. This training program equips instructors with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively educate others about these life-saving techniques.
The training program combines online coursework with hands-on skill practice and testing to ensure a well-rounded learning experience. The online portion of the training introduces the participants to the course material and provides an overview of the teaching methodologies. This allows participants to learn at their own pace and revisit the material as needed.
Following the online component, participants engage in hands-on skill practice and testing sessions. These sessions allow participants to apply what they've learned in a controlled environment under the supervision of experienced instructors. The hands-on practice includes demonstrations and practice of CPR and AED use on mannequins, as well as instruction on how to administer first aid for various common emergencies.
Throughout the training, emphasis is placed on effective teaching strategies and understanding the diverse learning needs of students. Participants are trained to deliver clear, concise, and engaging instruction, and to adapt their teaching style to meet the needs of individual students.
Upon successful completion of the training, participants become certified HeartSaver Instructors, authorized by the American Heart Association to deliver First Aid, CPR, and AED courses to the public. This certification empowers them to make a significant contribution to their communities by teaching others these vital life-saving skills.
