The NHTSA SFST's Practitioner Refresher (4-hours) (#2178) is a four-hour TCOLE eligible training course designed for law enforcement officers who are already certified in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST). The refresher provides an overview of the three standardized field sobriety tests (HGN, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand), an introduction to the new Drug Recognition Expert program, and detailed instruction on proper administration of SFSTs. Additionally, participants will learn proper documentation procedures for SFSTs; as well as how to recognize common mistakes made during testing and how to correct them. This course also provides an opportunity for participants to demonstrate their knowledge of SFSTs practical performance through hands-on exercises. By completing this course, officers will refresh their skillset regarding proper administration of SFSTs and increase their effectiveness in recognizing impaired drivers on Texas roadways.
Prerequisites: None
Required Equipment: Due to limited parking, PLEASE CARPOOL. Overflow parking is available at the library next door.
