This comprehensive course is designed to strengthen the expertise of Texas peace officers in handling sensitive investigations involving vulnerable populations. It delves into the complexities of child abuse, family violence, sexual assault, and sex offender cases, equipping officers with essential knowledge and skills to navigate these challenging situations.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Child Abuse and Neglect: In-depth exploration of the various forms of child abuse and neglect, including physical,emotional, and sexual abuse. Participants will learn how to identify signs of abuse, conduct thorough investigations,and collaborate with relevant agencies to protect child victims.

  • Family Violence: Comprehensive analysis of the dynamics of family violence, encompassing intimate partner violence, elder abuse, and sibling abuse. The course examines legal frameworks, risk assessment tools, and intervention strategies to ensure victim safety and hold perpetrators accountable.

  • Sexual Assault: Examination of the different types of sexual assault, including acquaintance rape, stranger rape,and child sexual abuse.
